wax?

anyone wax their kayaks? saw a guy waxing his board and thought about it..

Warning waxing your kayak, unlike waxing your board, will NOT keep you from falling off in the surf!

I asked the same question to the manufactures rep for Preception Kayaks and they said no need for a wax but depending on cleaning and storage habits using a uv protectant spray like 3M's 303 once or twice a year wasn't a bad idea. I noticed Hobie sells their own brand of UV Spray but haven't heard anything pro or con about it.

Wax on surfboards is for grip. On a yak it would just make a mess. Mike

this makes sense. since i dont surf, obvously, i always figured it was to help displace water and let your board slide better...
