Lobster hooping during the day?
Just wondering...I know lobsters are mostly nocturnal creatures, but is it possible to hoop for them during the day? As in, is there a chance I'll nab some or are they completely inactive during the day? |

I caught a Lobster on a drop-shot rig with gulp shrimp while Sand Bass fishing in SD Bay, in the middle of the day a few years ago in June. It was a big phooker too, maybe 6 pounds. Felt like a Hali coming up and fought like a SOB. Obviously I released it. I think it had more to do with the bait coming right by his hole than anything though. Don't think you'd have much success in the day.

I've been on plenty of dive trips where I've caught lobster in the middle of the day out in the open. Is it routine? - No, but there is the chance you could pick one up in a hoop net. Dusk to Dawn is the real time though...
