LJ 8/30 PM report

I haven't been able to get on the water as much as I have wanted so I grabbed an oportunity yesterday. Picked up my kids from school, took them straight home, and headed for LJ. Launched at around 4. Made 4 big greenies right passed the can and headed around the corner. Super hot, dead calm, and about empty. 1 boat and yak at the squid area and 2 boats out side. Water and current looked good, birds around but not doing much. Since I was about the only game in town the dogs were "shopping" me constantly. I looked around carefully befor dropping a bait back but they still got 3 of my macks. Ended up getting a big cuda on the iron and found a school of spanish to replentish my bait. Saw one spot of birds going but couldnt get there in time. Dropped back a spanish and trolled around the area that was holding the bait. Got picked up and it wasn't a dog. Landed a smallish maybe 10lb YT and headed for the sand. Beautiful night with the sun going down the the big mon coming up. Mike

The water looked blue and clear with not much kelp or grass floating. Didn't have a theromometer but it felt very warm. Landing the AI is a bit axiety inducing. Especially in the dark. Line up strate, wait for a lull, and go for it. With the amas out the yak doesn't turn real well so once you're comited your comitted. Mike

We appreciate your timely report. Always nice like to see a pic, even if it was on the smallish side, not that we doubt you, it just goes good with the story. For a quick trip to LJ it sounds like you did well, and had nice weather, gotta love that.

Oh yeah, wouldnt want the word of fish in San Diego in the middle of August getting out. That is got to stay a secret, no one knows about it.

The other secret is that fish like water and birds fly.

Funny how a guy catches a fish and all of a sudden you are "protecting"the secret info.

Just heard it from a secret source, the waters going to cool off in December.......shhhh

And don't tell anyone, but it's going to be crowded this weekend, i.e. Labor Day.
