Fishing Off Of A Hobie Islander?

Ok I have been looking into it and I have seen people on youtube with some actual amazing setups for fishing off an islander.
I would think with the sail it would make moving around easier, a lot more stable, and quicker from one spot to another easier, How would surf launch and landing be?

Check out this guy fishing from an islander but with the sail taken off:

Let me know what yall think of the idea?!?! and how is transport of these also?
If you have fished off one give me some insight on all this please.

Gman has an Adventure Island with all the goodies, in fact he fished with it this last weekend with me with everything attached...try Pming him and ask his opinion, he doesn't seem to have any trouble...

"Gman" his name is Gerard, if he doesn't answer I will tell him you would like to drill him on the AI ... and it's characteristics

it just seems like the space on that thing would be amazing and using the arms as a landing platform just seems out of this world!

He has the trampolines on the outriggers pretty nice set up, and if I don't feel like pedalling back in I just hook up and get towed in under sail...lol

I fish an AI in LJ and in SD Bay. I don't have mine tricked out even close to the guy from the vid though. Obviously the AI is extreamly stable and in calm water or normal swells I can stand up and fish fairly well. Chop or boat wakes keep me in the seat. I don't use the extended trampoline in the ocean but in the bay I extend 1 and put most of my gear in it. Also if you sail you have to keep your rods horizontal to clear the sail. I have never surfed launched with the trampoline out. And unrolling it compleatly from the seat would be tough. When I sail in the ocean I strap the rods to the amma supports. I notice in the vid he just has one of the ammas on the kayak. I have never tried this. And again if you sail you will need both. So far the ammas and supports have not gotten in the way of fighting fish. I just slide forward a bit so the rod clears the amma support. The hobie bait tank doesn't work in the AI because the rear amma support stops the bait tank from sitting over the scupper holes. When I do take the sail I roll it up and strap it along the hull then deploy it when needed. Mostly I peddle out befor the wind comes up and then get a free ride home. I load the kayak like I've seen guys load a PA; just get the front up on to the rack then push it up from the back. So far it has worked OK. I've never been a sailer but I gotta say the AI is fun under sail. Long reply but thats what I've noticed about fishing the AI. Mike

Mike,
I have never sailed a day in my life, meaning how hard is it to learn?

Yakin I have a Hobie AI and love it. It's set up with all the goodies. I've only fished from it a twice now in SD Bay. It was a lot of fun especially when the wind is kicking up. When there's no wind, it's easy to peddle around. I also have a PA 14. Both are awesome platforms. AI is definitely not a dry ride though.

I've never sailed before until I got my AI. Wasn't hard to learn at all on the AI.

I am not worried about a dry ride, it keeps you cool on a hot ass day!
How well does it move with the arms out, not using the sail, compared to the PA?

It moves pretty fast with the akas out. I think it's faster than the PA 14.

Halibu77 is definitely dialed in. Before I had to face reality, I was looking at these boats. There's also a video on youtube of some guys taking three AI's to Catalina camping. Fishing, spearfishing, paddle boards and camping gear. They can carry a lot of gear and still sail well. No regrets on the used outback, but I still want an AI.
