10/23 LJ Report (quiet)
Dolphins chasing up bait, sea lions chasing everything, saw a whale leaving from somewhere over by children's headed out to sea... Made my way out past the preserve and bait was hitting the surface all over the place. Peddled out past a couple commercial boats that were anchored (squid?) and turned towards the pier and a flock of birds... nothing. Turned around and went around the corner past the hotel....nothing. Bait still flicking the surface but no bite. Flyline high...nothing. Weighted low....nothing. Irons for huge Macks...(kind of fun anyway on light tackle) Landed back on the beach in small knee high surf at 1600 with nothing but a clear mind to show for it. Still better than work.

Thanks for report. At least mother nature made a showing.

Sounds like one of my several recent LJ excursions!
Although with the SD Bay bass tourney Nov 5, I've switched to pre-fishing the bay. Tough choice to make--but I'll hit LJ again after that--hope the water stays warm that late into the year! |
