Dana Pt, 10-17-11
Launched at 5:30am to an offshore wind and a bite to the air. No red tide at the launch, but a lot at the harbor mouth. Since I was alone I didn't want to fish the Pipe in the dark and fished around the jetty until things lightened up a bit. Eventually got to the Pipe and started fishing. Water was about 62º. Turned out to be really slow and throwing the kitchen sink only yielded me 3 fish for the morning. Only 5 bites for the whole morning. Not a lot of life out there either. Only saw bait twice, once being chased by some macs. The offshores blew pretty good until about 9 when the fog rolled in pretty good. In the fog I met up with Thomas (lurks on BWE), he recognized my yak and stopped to say hi. Headed in about 11:00.
