Made love to a Sea Lion at Cabrillo

Went out to glassy water for the first 4 hours.

My fishing buddy had to go in early. (He said something about a HOT date he had)

Around 12:30 I'm heading in, fighting the pretty strong head wind.

Passing through little patches of kelp here and there.

All of a sudden, the last patch of "kelp" nails my yak. I guess I surprised his arse a little! This fugger was taking a nap or whatever they do when they are just floating there right below the surface.

He hit my yak pretty damn hard, all kinds of water splashing everywhere. Bent one of my fin masts. Bastard!

His head comes up right next to me and makes a big, scary, hissing sound like "I wanna kill you whiteboy!" hiss at me.

I think I may have soiled myself.....

Damn Sea Lion.

2 short Halis.

The bait barge has the BIGGEST sardines I have ever used. I measured one at 9 inches!

Speaking of almost soiling oneself lol. Who was that rookie you took out today, forgeting both his batteries? You would think it had been 13 or 14 hours since he was last on the water or something. And only a Sculpin to show for his efforts? You need to hang around a better class of farmer.

Hot date? Those are for after fishing. Someone has to get his priorities straight. Bummer on the fin mast Matt.

Matt, have you tried fishing the outside of the breakwall? I went out there and it was wide open on 5lb sand bass and small calico with live bait.

I love to catch all types of fish, maybe one of these days I'll venture out there. I'm looking for MR. 30 pounder right now. Can't get distracted by the small fry!

There is absolutely no way that there are any large fish outside of the breakwall.
