newport fishless report x2

Did newport back to back Thursday and Friday. Got the yak wet at sun up and made my way out past the bell bouy and cut south, trolling a rapala for thresher. The water was calm and the paddling was easy going. Enjoying the new kayak, switching from an 11'6" cobra to a 16' OK manta was so worth the trade. Did about a 3 mile stretch with no takers. Turned it around and headed back and started the whole process again. I guess my expectations were high since Monday took about 30 minutes to hook up. No such luck today. At least I'm getting my excersize for the day. About 9 I decided to switch it up and jigged up some bait. Plenty of small cigar sized macs around. Drifted around the general area of the bell bouy for another hour before calling it quits. Repeated the same thing today with almost identical results. Macs were plentiful again and a bit bigger. At one point I found myself jigging up macs and releasin them just to catch something. Does that count as not getting skunked on technicality? Nah. Called it at 11 and took it home. Talked to a buddy that said the bite moved north and that huntington was pulling t's. Anyone heard anything? I'm on the hunt for my first yak thresher if anyone goes out of huntington where is a good place to launch? Other then a beach launch.

As far as I know the only launches in Huntington are surf launches. Iceman should have some info.
