A funny thing happened...
Not a yakfishing report, but thought I'd share nonetheless. Decided to to do some surf fishing at Mission Beach early this morning, as I'd heard the salad had pretty much cleared up and the surf wasn't so big. Thought I'd stop at my bait spot to pump a few ghost shrimp in case the surf critters were tired of gorging themselves on the gazillion sandcrabs out this summer. Another guy was doing the same nearby, when he holds something up and says, "This is paying off."
I stroll over and he's holding a five dollar bill. "Did you pump that out of a shrimp hole?" I asked, and he said yes, indeed he had. "That's great," I quipped, "think I'll look for the bigger shrimp, see if I can find one holding a twenty." Not two minutes later I find a twenty dollar bill in the mud and I'm busting up, seein' as how I was just joking. Then we both start looking around, and I find a ten spot in the water! After a few more chuckles, I told him I was ready to head over to the beach and start fishing, and I'd leave the hundred dollar bill out there for him to find. By the way, the perching was steady on the crabbies, including a few plus-sized models. Handed off my rod to an angler from NorCal, wouldn't you know he pulls in a nice little yellowfin croaker, the only non-perch I saw caught this morning. Fun stuff... |

One of those semi-submersible "medical supply transports" from Mexico must have had an exciting evening...
Meanwhile... somewhere South of the border... some dark guy with a Hispanic accent is very angry, bitch slapping his minions, and asking WHERE IS MY MONEY!!?? |

Cartel sensationalism
Nah...pretty sure a clueless tourist waded into the bay without securing his wad...The local in me would like to think it came from Arizona and he left a daughter behind too!
