What voltage are you guys running your bait tanks on?

What voltage are you guys running your bait tanks on?

I have the Shimano tank, and currently uses the 12 volt sealed lead acid batt on a 500 GPH bilge pump, but the battery is dying and going to get replaced. Am wondering if it would be better to go to a 6 volt battery instead?

I find the 12 volt battery runs the pump faster than is necessary and is a bit annoying.

But is the 6v enough to run your tank and keep your bait lively for a long enough period of time -- on a 360 or 500 GPH pump built for 12 volt?

So... is anyone running your tank on 6v? And how do you like it?

OH... Forgot to mention. Assumptions would be if the tank is used on a more sensitive bait... Like a dozen or two of sardines. Spanish will stay alive if I just spit into the tank every hour, so I don't care about those.
