Back to the 'tails

Hit La Jolla up this morning. Launched at 4:30AM, easy bait at the first can, both greenies and spanish. Started with baits both high and low, about a 1/2 mile straight off of Boomer's Beach.
It was mostly beautiful out there. Flat, calm, no wind, but no fish for 3 hours. None seen and no hits.
We chatted with jet-ski fishing dude Nelz for awhile and he didn't seem to be having any luck either. The major negative (besides apparent lack of fish) being lots of drifting grass and seaweed in the water.
About 9:00AM, we had our first hit. Julie's flylined mack is picked up and she's on. Minutes later, this 15 lb yellowtail hits the deck:

Back to the troll. A very short while later we had our second hit. Aaron makes short work of a 7 lb firecracker 'tail.
Now that the ice is broken our day feels better. We begin heading back to the launch. Very close to where we started fishing this day, Aaron's flylined rig starts screaming. He flips it in gear without even taking off the clicker. The fish goes on a long run, which took most of the fight out of her. A short time later this 18 lb yellowtail is boated:

This causes us to make one extra loop around the area, which results in a log barracuda caught by Julie, which is now destined for the smoker.
Here's the beach shot of our 2 biggest fish:

Saw some wonderful things today while on the water, which helped cap a great day for us. First was a late season grey whale. Later, some smaller dolphins, 5 of which jumped in sync right in front of us. Finally, at the landing, we saw our first La Jolla sea turtle.

Way to stick it out, there were crappy tides and weak uphill current. That and a slowtrolling nightmare of grass. You 2 are definately making me feel the need for some 2 point meat . That and Brad is tentatively 1.5 points ahead of me
