Why all the makos?
I thought he was gone, so I threw it in gear, turned the clicker off and then started cranking it in. I felt no resistance when all of a sudden the line was heading under the front of my yak. The rod loaded up and spun the yak around. It was at that point that the drag starteted to slip and then I felt the sudden burst of speed from the fish. He was gone! The 50 lb spectra was cut pretty cleanly  Do not mess with that fish! I did a google search on shortfin mako. The following link is the first hit. If you target these fish, and unfamiliar wit them, you should check it out. Mark http://www.newenglandsharks.com/shortfin.htm |
