Leopard sharks have big teeth stay away from them. and most kayakers don't target leopard sharks. Leopard shark taste like draino anyways.

Aww, come on they ain't that bad. Leopards are fun to catch and they're not too picky, live or cut bait any where near the bottom and you're all set. I usualy catch them while I'm fishing for some thing else. They put up a decent fight. The couple I have caught tight to the surf line have pulled me toward the beach and in to the surf. I haven't eaten leopard shark so I can't say if they taste line drain-o or not. Mike

Saw them in Carlsbad, at the power plant, was surfing in in only 2ft of water and saw at least 3 leopards, between 3-4 feet, looke awesome in 2ft or less of water, figured they must be eating sand crabs, that would be a fun fight, probly just let em go after that, they are beautiful.

They love a nice fat lively barred surf perch if you can catch one and re-rig.

I catch them right north of the pair when halibut fishing. Usually it is when I sit in place too long with my live/dead mac on the bottom. I personally don't like catching them, would rather hook a halibut . Plus I usually have to change out my rig once I get them to the boat.

So I guess my advise is if you want to catch one, sit in place and sink your bait to the bottom and wait.
