Those are both outstanding fish. :shock: I like to fish that area for butts too. I think you both have awesome skill AND dedication for the sport of halibut. It shows. My only question is how do you set a new goal above that one and what time is dinner :?:

Thanks, everyone for the kind words. Yeah, we're still glowing. It was a truly spectacular day.

We had a double going and Aaron landed a just legal, but released it when Julie hooked her 1st fish and said she thought it was a legal :roll: . It took awhile for that fish to realize it was even hooked. Then the fun began of gaffing the beast.

A little while after it was finally secured, a small gray whale surfaced between us. Another special thing to our day.

Aaron took about 5 gallons of water to his lap when he set the gaff in the 2nd fish. It tail-walked and jerked his kayak hard to the left, nearly flipping him. All worth it.
