well, I would rather have a kayak fishing website where people post kayak fishing reports instead... But what are you gonna do?

You can lead a horse to water but you can't make it drink.

Can't beat that, unless of course you can talk Andy into a free jet propulsion & bilge system!

Being satisfied...

After all the smoke clears, one thing is for sure and that is your need to be satisfied with which route you pick.

I personally have had Andy do a repair on one of my past kayaks (Hobie Quest) and I most say he does excellent work at a very reasonable rate. I was glad that I had him do the repairs. With that said, if you are on a low budget have Andy repair the yak and move forward.

If you do not feel 100% comfortable with this work being done then save the $$$ for the 2011 hull purchase. This is far cheaper than a "new" purchase! In the end it's your decision on new hull vs repaired hull.

Just be happy with the choice you pick!

Perhaps you can install an electrical bilge pump as a back up.

If I were you you i'd get the replacement hull... sounds like a good deal, but with todays economy I can totally see that 700+ dollars is alot of dough.

I hate to resurrect an old post, but does this happen to older Revo's as well?

I bought an '08 revo brand new. After almost a year it developed a stress crack around the cam in the drive well. At first I didn't notice than I opened hatch and found about five gallons of h20 inside. Hobie replaced kayak with new '09 no questions asked! Haven't had a problem since... All I know is to stay away from the '08s....btw a stress crack in plastic can never be fixed!

Updated

Hate to bring up old stuff but this saga is over for me.

Iceman ended up patching the leak up for me and did a pretty solid job. It allowed me to save some cash, keep fishing and then finally take up on hobie on their warrenty offer. $717 got me a brand new hull which I am completely stoked on. I had the honor of putting her to sleep myself and cutting out my transducer. To the graveyard she went. Thanks to Rik at oside oex, hobie, and Andy for your help.

Now the fun begins on rerigging.

RIP RED

Nothing beats 'new' especially when its only costing you 1/3 of the full price.

BTW....what's that things that's mounted in front of the bow hatch?

did you completely tear out the sail mast?!?!

I could have fixed it I had a guy bring in an Outfitter that got pinned between the dock and piling and the outgoing tide put a big C shaped crack about 10 inches long.........took my time and welded it up. Sometimes ya gotta know when to say when!

Glad you are styled out on the new one!
