Thieves are out an about...

Man its getting bad, lots of posts lately about mischievous activity. I got targeted last night. Parked my car at my friends place in Crown point and we went out. As I drove home (sober), I hear my kayak bouncing around and sliding around. Turns out, someone punched out the lock on my rear crossbar, and removed it from the roof rails of the car. Thankfully, I keep a cable lock on the front and back cross bars, locking the kayak down through the scupper holes. I guess the front lock would have been to much work for them to keep at it.

Nothing was lost, but I did sustain some damage to the car.

The thought of some one steeling a kayak

Off the top of a car makes me sick..

WTF is going on? This sh*t pieces me off!! My daughters boyfriend had his car parked in front of our house and someone went in his car Thursday night. Strange thing is that they only took the $change$ that was laying around, they left his car stereo alone.

Things are getting nasty out there.

Seriously!

They need to install lights and cameras at the parking lot( At the minimum LIGHTS). That whole parking lot is dark except when you park on the front row. Even with that it is poor lighting.

The very sad thing is that now the tweeker learned that he needs to bring more tools...

May I suggest everyone mark their kayaks and also write down serial numbers! Maybe if we all had a system of marking the yaks in the same place....Then when we see a kayak that has a ground down ID mark we report the Kayak!!! This isn't a full proof plan but a kayak does them no good if they can't sell it easily! Only have to catch the guy once when he tries to sell it on Craigslist!

Maybe on the inside front hatch or something? And if OEX or anyone sells a front hatch it gives a reason for alarm too?

I agree on the Bait car, the cops down there could do it easily if they wanted to...
The mark inside the yak is a good idea, simple but effective, how about we all use a soldering iron and inscribe BWE on the inside of the hull...let's
all consider that, and get uniform maybe that will help if anyone does get ripped off, also note the serial # at home in case of thievery

i had a customer yesterday that was down swimming in la jolla this past weekend and their truck got broken into during the day! they said the doors were even re-locked so at first they thought they left their wallet and cell phone on the beach for a while, im not sure if they hid the stuff well, but either way this is BS and i hope they catch these pricks.

The only good thing is that this idiot is doing this sooooo much that odds are He / She will be caught! Hopefully by me, last person I caught got a golf club to the head and had to tell his story to the hospital, I was visited by the police because this guy had the B@lls to tell them I beat him up, after the hospital kept asking what happened! ha ha I promptly showed the cop his rig for stealling gas, big drum, electric pump on a dolly... They said I must have startled him and he attacked me so I defended myself, which is how I remember it Too!
