Not quite. The book says to have the gameclip out, open and in the lap before the gaff shot. Loosen the drag before going for the gaff shot. And it also says to pop a gill before removing the gaff. Luckily, my complacency has not cost me anything yet, but it will eventually if I keep it up.

How uneventfull could that have been ? No second run ,no tantrum at the gaff ,Hell!!! The fish did'nt even realize what happened .
