9/13 AM w/pix
As soon as I arrived on the scene, I got my first knockdown. This resulted in a quick 7# YT. As soon as he hit the deck, my other rig started singing. Quick 5 count, and I'm gettin a serious tow right for the big bulbs of bull kelp that were sitting on the surface. A nice size fish. Amazingly, no kelp till I was right vertical over him after 15 minutes of back and forth. Spectra'd my way out of the kelp, and soon 27# of YT sitting on my lap---hoots from the densly packed crew all around. The carnage continued out there till 9AM, PBs, party boats, yaks, bass boats....all were getting in on the fun. At any one time, you could look around and at least two people were hooked up! I made a bait run because my friend who was still looking for his first yellow had just got cuda'd on his last bait and I was out.....As soon as I got back with a bait and he put it in the water, he hooks and lands his first....a nice 10-12#er Les with his first....i told him to make a face, he did |

WTG Dan. Looks like I'll be out tomorrow, with the rest of the fleet.

Breezy with a building swell.
Decided to stay inside after paddling to the three mile corner yesterday. Bait was tough. Watched a newby bust his cherry on a rat with a spinning rod. I can still hear him yelling with joy!! Offered to snap a pic (Lit up1 already did the deed) and I got picked up on the iron. Proceeded to catch my own rat. Up and down and the YT’s were gone for the evening. Dodo and his daughter have another story. Cool PM session. 8) The wind finally died down at sunset. Ken. |

Nelz, Boat USA and West Marine both sell the waterproof cases. I think Jim Sammons also sells the same.

thanks for the today's PM report too.. hopefully this BIG south swell will start a solid bite going.. i noticed LJ's bite goes up along with the surf, always creating the choice of what to do, surf or fish... see you guys next week.. good luck all and looking forward to reading some great reports! |
