I stopped at the booth today to tie a couple of knots after the contest was over.
I tied a smaller version of the double San Diego to the ring, something that would be practical to fish.
It broke at 98 lbs when tied with 60 lb. Izorline mono.
Sometimes less is more.

-Then there was this...
Something I had been experimenting with in my garage for the last few days, and testing head to head against every other knot. Something special to work on the machine, a knot that might cause some controversy in the contest.
So I tie it with the 60 lb.........and it breaks at 197 lbs.
You read that correctly 197.

Needless to say, I'm going to practice with this some more for next year.

BTW - the winner's knot broke at 102.5 when tied in 60 lb. test.
Izorline makes some strong stuff.
