rock fish near nph?

If i wer to paddle out the harbor mouth can someone guide me in the right direction to look for rockfish? Would I have better luck going right towards hb or left towards cdm honestly I just would like a little advice to make it easier searching for them. Also how is it possible that some people use light tackle on a 2oz jig? I see noodles rods and spinning reels on YouTube jigging for them wouldn't the rod not be able to support a lure that heavy? Thanks Cbass

With Current, Id go with 4-6 ounces, But right otusdie the harbor mouth find a couple deep spots 125-175 feet. Lingcod and Reds have been caught there a couple times, Theres 1-2 small recks out there that the fish will hold on.

I'm looking to go out next week to do some deep drops. Pm me if you want to head out with me. It's quite a paddle out there.
