Not sure what the distance between the spot you mention and the fins is, but even the wide cone is no more than a little over 1 to 1. So say your fins stick down 16 inches, you would need your Xducer to be that far away to avoid seeing them. The typical narrow beam (200khz) cone angle is between 12 and 20 degrees, and the wide beam (50 or 83khz) is 45 and 60 degrees. At 60 degrees I believe the ratio is about 1.1 to 1 (you see 1.1 feet over for every 1 foot down).
