O'Side Calico Meet And Greet

A good New Year to all.

It is good to start the year off bent.

Went out today to see if there might be a fish around the structure off O'Side. Fished plastics primarily along with a WaxWing.

First and last couple hours were just as nice as could be (Weather wise) Not a bite. At around 11 am we were moving from one spot to the next draging the pastic slow at about 1-1.5 mph when my rod bent over (A Fish) wow!

After the last few times out without a bite this was cool. Reacquainting myself with the local Calicos was nice, and the one that came up to greet me was probably the largest I've caught in 20 years, weighing in at about 8-10 lbs. He looked up at me with his baby Brown eyes, and I knew he was thinking about dinner. I was.

So I removed my hook, lifted him high so I could see the whole of his body, and gently put him back in the water. Hope to see him again some time.

Not a lot of sea life in general, but a good day to be on the water. Water is still a bit dirty but getting clearer (surface visability 2-3 feet., temp around 59.

Wax Wing

How's the Wax Wing working. I got the smaller one in bone and have not had a chance to use it much. Caught one Calico on it so far the only time I used it..

Wax Wing

The first day I fished the Blue Sardine Waxwing back in Nov. it was awesome, caught quite a few Calicos, Sandies and a small Thresher on it. I haven't caught anything on it since.

Nice job. If you're only going to catch one that's the way to do it.
