Correct, the Tacoma need the adapter kit and you would have needed to save the universal hardware for all other makes.

Buying this will save somebody $200 I love my X porter!

I have a 05 tacoma long bed with a black toneau cover. Don't know if that will fit your truck but if so, willing to trade for the rack?
