Well it couldnt be the S.D, river ,it's the MOST polluted water sourse feeding the ocean in S.D. ,but I have caught 4 salmon in Mex waters just 17 miles north of Ensenada back in 2004 ,thought the first was a WSB coming to color till I gaffed it ,but there was an article about one of the smaller feeds that when a young man brought home a trout from a North County stream turned out to be a salmon .What a glorious thought of salmon in S.D. waters again

a co-worker of mine is in trout unlimited and there is a bonefide run of steelhead into camp pendleton.they counted 39 two years ago.someone actually sits there and counts(different people in shifts i imagine. They got permission to eradicate all non-native species (baass, bluegill, bullfrogs, catfish)or anything that can eat steelhead fry.Steelhead are ocean run rainbow trout.

The real beauty is that this is a non-government conservation society. Just caring anglers donating their time and money to preserve our national fishery. No way the government could be that effective.

They have a fish cam at the Bonneville Dam where we can watch salmon and steelhead on their way upstream. Catching them is another thing altogether.

Video of the fish cam

Link to live cam - sometimes it doesn't work and when fish aren't running there's not much to see

They do pay someone to sit there and count the fish
