Thumbs up Sun 9-5 LJ Yellowtail

Not exactly a personal report, but with the lack of new ones, I thought I'd post anyways.

Was at La Jolla shores with visiting family yesterday. One of my favorite things to do is hang out at the launch ramp to see the result of fellow kayaker's catches as well as hedge bets on which rental kayaker will make it back through the surf without flipping.

Didn't catch the kayaker's name in the photo, but my son said he'll hold the Yellowtail. So with the assistance of the cool kayaker and my visiting sister, here's my 3yr old attempting to hold a yellowtail that's almost as big as he is. Got blood on his hands and everything.

Can't wait till he can hold up a similar catch of his own. Good times.

Thanks to the cool kayaker for photo op and being kind. Sorry I didn't think to introduce myself personally.

And a better look at the catch:

LMFAO - I guess you really weren't kidding...@ssholes! I thought you were BS'ing me when you called last night - "Oh Roger, guess what you missed"? I knew I should have stayed out there longer.

Nice fish Kent, aka Roeboat.

Thanks. It was almost 6:20pm when the photo was taken. Sigma 50mm f/1.4 was the lens.

Fixed the date of the report. Working from home, you lose all sense of date.

Cheers,
-David

What a great pic man! Love the shimmer on the fish. You may have a future fish slayer in training....

I love this picture. I hope you keep the picture for the little boy to see when he gets bigger. You could submit this picture in a contest and win.

Well, this turned out to be a much better report than anything I could have conjured up.

David - nice pictures and cute son! Thanks for sharing.

A few details: Caught the YT in 145 ft. around 2:00 pm on a fly-lined greenback. The little guy fought so hard I thought I had hooked a small thresher.

Had a blast fishing with Roger (who actually stayed on the water more than a couple hours this time) and Premo and then taking the YT over to Ryan's new place for some filleting and cooking lessons (thanks again Ryan).

Almost forgot - a big thank you to the guys in the white truck at the launch who helped me push my Explorer out of the sand. Is this a cool community or what?

Thx. It's an Orange mouth from SD Bay. Vampire like fangs on those boys.
