wow, it really sucks to lose gear for sure...
I feel your pain, I have a Trinidad 14 on a Custom Gloomis out there somewhere...

as for crash landings...
some people...(and they shall remane nameless)...
have, on occasion, given me substantial amounts of grief for stowing my stuff even on the smallest of days...
it has been my experience that it IS and has been the smallest of days that will knock me out of my boat! guard down I guess...

so, to all the grief givers...
feel free to contunue to give me grief, go ahead and call me a wuss,
but when, not if, when I tip over in the surf...
my reels are still clean, safe, and happy stowed inside in a dry bag inside the yak and my rods just get a little sandy...
the biggest damage done is my hurt pride...
but hell, I am usually laughing so hard, dat don't matter either...
