One more time
We need everyone at the BRTF meeting November 10th. The sky is falling again. All kidding aside, this will be the meeting the BRTF recommends the prefered map of closures. In the other finished regions, every time the BRTF recommends a map, it gets approved. They were supposed to decide October 22, but ran out of time. Now they will decide on November 10th. There will be a public comment session at the BRTF meeting on November 10th. . Don't know what time public comment will be. November 10, 2009 9:30 a.m. Sheraton Gateway Hotel 6101 West Century Blvd. Los Angeles, CA 90045 Originally there wasn't going to be one. They are going to go based on precedent. After they make a motion on the FINAL map, we have one last chance for specific comments. This will be your only chance to comment on the specific recommended map. This is not the time to talk about how much the process sucks. This is the time to give one last pitch. They specifically want to hear arguments and reason they haven't heard before. Any new information you may have. From a Surf Rider Board: http://www.fluidgroove.net/phpBB3/vi...hp?f=19&t=1110 Quote:
Every time there has been a poor turnout by fishermen, big rulings have gone against us. We cannot afford that this late in the game.

Let's see if they tactfully place the Public Comment period in the day time again before 2:30pm so they can bus the kids in again. |

"BRTF will introduce a new array for proposed closures on the in a few days. The short sighted fishermen tried to cheat society out of a win-win resolution by perpetuating their unsustainable practices We are able to re-introduce closures that truly benefit mother ocean."
Aw, he must be a sweet fella... Now go buy your fish from a plastic wrap. Cheat society? Are you phookin' kidding me? Unsustainable practices? How about money spent for more wardens, how about money spent for more artificial reefs, how about slot limits, how about money spent to boost population, ever hear of the WSB Hatchery Program... Seems they have spent more $ trying to shut the understaffed, underfunded, and unenforceable fishery management down rather than to find ways to make it a sustainable fishery... Sorry guys, someone had to say it. I'll try to make it...I can't believe this nonsense...

I see a stage being set for some nice civil disobedience sometime down the road when this chapter is over depending on how bad they shaft us... We get about 200 kayaks to launch at one of the closed sites... and we go out and worship "Mother Ocean" come and get us A good man will bend over backwards to keep the peace These people are trying to get us to bend over forward |

"The short sighted fishermen tried to cheat society out of a win-win resolution by perpetuating their unsustainable practices " This was some f-tard in Jacksonville Fl that couldn't carry my nut sack. Most of the Surfrider members I know are fishermen also. We helped influence Surfrider's position regarding San Diego. I wish they had more members in Malibu. |

This is THE meeting. Everyone thought the last one was it. The last one was the most important, until they put off the decision until November 10th.
