How is the surf launch at Doheney and is closer to get out than Baby Beach?

I had my 1st major surf launch at La Jolla a couple of weeks ago and it was fun, exciting and nervous at the same time.

yeah i know i plan on fishing the 11th so thank you for the heads up, and i havent launched from doheney before, i just saw a few yaks beaching there last weekend. it didnt look to bad at all. and it all depends where you plan on fishing, if u want to fish outside the harbor, doheney is a lot less of a paddle then baby beach

Launching from doheny is really easy. Park in the lot that is south of the south jetty near the bait barge (paid parking) and wheel down to the spot that is right next to the jetty. There is practically no surf there since the jetty pretty much blocks the swell so stick close to the jetty until your out. Baby beach is good since you don't need to pay to park and launch from inside the harbor but if you want to fish outside of the harbor then the doheny launch is best since it shortens the paddle (the north jetty seems never ending at times).
