Depends on how much of the meeting you can, or want to attend. I would suggest leaving before 3PM, for traffic reasons. Public comment tomorrow is at 7PM, but the meeting starts at 8:00AM.

We are game on...thanks Chris for staying on top of this...

Don't know what Clay will say this time, but it comes from within. Maybe he will touch on the fact that is a safe launch, even for kids.

I am humbled (and outshined...) just for the main fact that a 9 yr old understands the importance of being heard. And this time, he doesn't get to miss school yet still wants to go...safe to say he understands what is at stake...

See all of you there manana...

Any updates on the progress?

I was living in NorCal when the MLPA's came through and they pretty much arbitratily closed sections of the coast. Thanks to the tireless efforts of an few kayak fishermen and organizations some spots were saved. But it took a hell of a lot of effort. I'd hate to see good spots closed down there as well so if you can, get down to the hearings and be heard. If you can't make it support someone who is going to talk or an organization that will.

In Washington the MLPA's are coming as well and we're doing the best we can to be prepared to preserve what we've got.

Z

Are we going to let this happen to us?

Sometimes you pick and choose your battles...

Do not sit on the fence on this one, and hope that others will bail us all out....

Thanks for that Zee...

The battle lines have been drawn and by standing by and not taking action you are doing exactly what the pro-MLPA people are hoping for!!!!

SO STOP BEING A WANKER AND STAND UP AND BE COUNTED!!!! GO TO THE MEETINGS!!!

If you aren't part of the solution, you are part of the problem.

Howdy fellow kayakers.

We have 26 spearos signed up to go to the meeting to speak out against closures.

http://spearboard.com/showthread.php?t=84279

I am hoping to have more kayak fishermen there so as to have another consumptive group outdo spearos (thus shaming even more spearos into showing up at future meetings).

We won't be caught off guard like what happened in Norcal.

By the way...a hearty thanks to everyone. It's going to be nice to be in a meeting room with a lot of friendlies... Black shirt everyone.

You guys rock!

We did not make it to the end, but lasted until 11:30. Thanks to all of you guys that came out tonight. I feel like we were well represented and did a good job of getting our point across, repeatedly.

if we keep speaking up, we may just end up with something liveable like propsal A or B. If we sit on our hands we are sure to regret it later. We are making progress.

It's not over by a long shot, so who's headed up on Thursday?

Just got home a few minutes ago. Poor Paul and the other RSG stake holders are still probably listening to public comment. I have to work at 6:30am like usual so we left about 11:30pm.

We did good, but it isn't over. It was really disturbing that the meeting was not being videotaped like previous ones. They finally get a huge turnout for Public Comment, then don't tape it for the record . Next time we need even more. We can get over 100 guys if we really try. Make it so many we can't be ignored.

Thanks Joe (ZenSpearo) . Nice meeting you. Your site has all the pertinent info.

For those that want to more about the MLPA, like me, go to youtube.com and search for MLPA 101. There are some informative videos from the classroom sessions earlier this week. You can watch them on your own time if you couldn't make it.

I think we had a good turnout, but need to keep up the pressure. If you fish the OC and did not make it last night, you'd be crazy not to go to the meeting on Thursday. Their is a large contingent of Laguna Beach ecos, not just content to have virtually their own private beaches, but want the kayaks and boats off the waters so their view is unspoiled. They're pressuring for closures from Dana Point to Newport. Time for everyone to step up. The process is biased against us, so we need to represent more than them.
