Cheap and quick = bucket and large plastic cup to refresh water. Just drill some holes at the height you want the water level. This will keep Macs going just fine. I've done this before and know it works. It's just a PITA.

Instead of doing this, wait until you have the time and budget to do it right. You can make a good one for less than $125. The one I made is removable and will fit just about any SOT with a tank well. I can post a pic if you would like to see it.
