Dana Point Jan 10th
The weather was beautiful and warm, launched at 7:45 and headed south out of the harbor. Worked the area in 25 to 28 feet of water with kelp stringers for a half dozen bass and one lost bigger fish to the kelp till 10:30. The wind gusted now and then for 5 to 10 minutes from different directions. Decided to try trolling the crank bait in toward shore and up to the area off of Doheny Beach to look for halibut. Worked the area till 1:30 with plastics for 3 short halibut and 2 more bass. NO big fish for me today though fishing was better than it has been recently. Paul won the money with a 24 inch halibut. We ate Links chips and some awesome pasta salad that Gilbert’s wife made. Great fun with a great group Thanks for hosting these monthly get together’s Tim

Wish I could have been there. Had to be at MBF in San Diego. I feel like I have friends north and south and sometimes I'm forced to choose. Next time I go north! Fishing was pretty slow in the big bay, but the winning fish was a pig!
