Was out two days in the last week...

Sunday - Launched around 8:30ish with a couple of guests. Sardines were on the large size and had just been loaded in the receivers, most died within 30 minutes. Enough was left over to use though, at least for as long as the guests were going to be out. Fishing was kinda slow, caught a few bass and one legal halibut. The guests left around 2:30pm, and since the Ortega was closed, meaning I'd have to go down through Oceanside and sit on the 15 for two hours I decided to get another load of sardines and stay for a bit. Later in the afternoon things got better, the bass bite picked up and I got a smallish leopard to the kayak, released it. I also hooked into something that took off like a bat out of hell, I had jury rigged the setup I was using, with bass it would hold. It didn't hold on this fish, line snapped pretty fast. Ended up heading in around 7:30pm.

Tuesday - Took my grandson, we launched a little later, around 12:30pm, sardines were still the same except they didn't die off. Headed out to see if we could find a leopard or two, just for the fun of the fight. Grandson caught a small WSB and I got a legal Calico. I also got spooled by something, 200 yards of braid pulled off in less then 45 seconds, that thing was hauling, line popped of the reel with a loud snap, never did see it. Later my grandson caught a legal halibut, he was jazzed. Many years ago I took him and his brothers out for some sand bass and barracuda fishing (this was like 20 years ago) and he caught a halibut and had wanted to catch another. Today was that day.

Great to hear. Sounds like a awesome week. Going to head out with my son this Sun. Looks like a nice calm warm summer day of Kayak fishing. Can't ask for more....except for something legal
