More Redondo Info...
It's supposed to be finished by April and the hand launch dock should also be reopened by then...

I helped my Nephew catch his first bonito off that pier. A lot of good memories from there. Sad to see it go.

Bait Boat
A bit more Bad News from Redondo...
The Bait Boat Matador (previously "The Inseine") sank earlier this week in about 150' of water off the Topaz jetty...the skipper and crew are all OK... The rumor is that salvage operations will begin next week from a Large Crane/Barge coming up from Long Beach... So if you're planning on fishing Redondo with live bait...better bring a Sabiki...

40 years ago my fishing buddie and I would drive from Glendale to Redondo arriving very early to be the first in line. We would buy two corner stern spots on the Redondo Special for both the morning and afternoon half day trips. After we got our tickets we would have breakfast at Polly's on the pier. The picture is sad but brings back great memories.

My wife and I loved to go to Polly's for breakfast. As parrot owners, we liked the name.
We got to know the staff and were kind of regulars. I also fished the pier and made friends with the bait shop owners. I only went on the sportfishing boat one time and was disappointed of the service. They cared more for the regulars than the newcomers. The dummies did not realize that the newcomers could become regulars. |
