PB Halibut Up At Leffingwell Landing (Cambria)

Fishing for Lings and Rock cod out of the Leffingwell Landing. As usual I always hope for a halibut but don't usually specifically target them when I am there. The Lings and Reds were nowhere to be found on this rainy Sept morning.

As I was peddling to my waypoint from my last visit about an hour into the morning I saw my FF light up from top to bottom with what I assume was bait. Figured I better drop down and see what was waiting underneath that mass of fish snacks.

One crank back up after the 7 inch Hammer hit bottom in 70 ft I got slammed.

Once he was at the kayak it was like he was napping. Just hanging out floating on the surface. I knew when I put that net around him things would change but I was not expecting the violent pounding he gave me at that point. Wow, what a fun experience. Love Kayak Fishing!

Roby and I were there over the weekend and noticed quite a bit of cubic looking jellyfish that sometimes combined end to end to looks like a snake. In addition we saw alot of shiner sized baitfish boiling in the water. Nice job on the PB halibut. We were able to scrounge up a handful of rockfish and cabbies for the three sessions we had there, but no lings. We elected to spend one day at Limekiln.
