Stoked to get a Wahoo
On the deep bait, I pulled up a King Mackerel. The fish that hit the surface bait had stripes! It was no giant but broke the dry run that would have been 2 years by next January. Even though it was on the border of being a fish I would consider releasing, I was pretty stoked to get a Wahoo! After the morning bite, things got slow, with no bites on the jigs. Before the morning was over with, I did catch 3 Cuban Wahoos....AKA Great Barracudas. The fresh Wahoo gave me an opportunity to try out Ecuadorian Wahoo Ceviche. Another home run by the Fisherman's Belly! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EVG4SYm6kqE |

Wahoos are clean water open ocean fish while the Kings can sometimes be found just outside the breakers and frequently in dirty water. Both are noted for mercury, but the King Mackerel are on reduced consumption/do not eat lists. Otherwise, they would be a regular on my menu. |

Bummer....
On the consumption report. I ate alot of fish this year. I don't feel any different. I was thinking about getting tested for mercury, I think its about $80 to get tested. I ate way more fish than your suppose to.Blue water makes a big difference. I have noticed a big difference in taste in lobster and yellowtail alijos rocks and Cortez banks vs la Jolla and SD Bay lobster

Thanks. It was hanging on a rod in the rod holder while I reeled up the king, as a result, it has more line rash that erased much of the striped pattern from the front and back half of the fish.
Thanks, I've been dreaming of one for a while, nice to have it happen. |
