You're a brave soul. How many days did it take you to paddle/pedal to San clemente island? My bad, I didn't realize you went on a boat. Sorry!

Cool video! SCI is my "happy place." Buddy and I took his boat out there 2 weeks ago looking for YT. Found some mixed in with the calico, but couldn't get them to bite. Current was basically non-existent, even on the tide swings which made it really tough. Marked some deep on a paddy south of the 14-mile bank, but couldn't get them to come up and they weren't interested in jigs or squid. Saw some bald eagles, caught tons of large-grade calico, a nice sheephead and a large bocaccio, but none of the yellows we were hoping for. Didn't keep anything though. Hope to get out there again next week!

So awesome to see the Freedom well kept and running strong! That was my weekend and summer escape in the late '70s and full-time deckhand job for 1980. Thank you for a nostalgic look at my old stomping grounds. A side snagged fish is always a spoiler. Better luck next time.

I’ll say this. I loved that boat. So roomy and absorbs the waves. Galley was so nice and clean and crew was fantastic. Always makes a trip better when the boat is tip top Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Ditmar Hulls are known for riding the waves well, unlike some other hulls that pound the seas. The wooden hulls were built by Seaco in Costa Mesa, a partnership of Ditmar and Donaldson that started after WW2. The Freedom was built in 1961. Its sister boats are the Grande(originally the America) and the Liberty.
