If you want the advice of a tackle nerd who doesn't make time to fish, here's my $0.02.
Fishing braid and live bait? I'd fish a glass rod. A Daiwa VIP 870 would make a great 25-30# kayak rod; and it would save you $80. If you're going to fish 25-30, you might spool that reel with 50# braid, just a thought. A Calstar WC 670 is basically god's gift to 40# rigs if you want to go up a line class and spend some loot, lol. Go pull on one some time and be amazed at the backbone. You could lift up the bottom of the ocean with that rod. Really any 670, even older glass models from Fenwick, is one heck of a 40# stick. |
