can anyone explain

the differences between the two terms Tp(s) Peak Period and Ta(s) Average Period from the CDIP bouy site? the average being the time period of all the combined sell directions? is the peak period referring to the strongest swell direction? which factor is more important when trying to figure out launch conditions? thanks for any help.
