JD, probably 8 pounds or so.
![]() Afran, thanks for pointing that out, I've caught two yellowtail in 2008 on plastic. I don't put much time into chasing yellows, or mackerel for bait anymore, and may have spent a total of 10 minutes fishing for calicos this year, and that's almost all I used to do. Strange how target species rotate. Keeps it interesting. My FIRST kayak yellowtail was caught in the Moyer Tourney 2003, on the same plastic and the same bass setup. Note the green plastic on the bass rod below, that's what I throw a lot, and fooled this fish too. (2003 Steve Moyer Tournament, 8th place, 14 lbs) ![]() Couple yellow shots from June 2006, yellowtail released ![]() ![]() |

Ooops.....time for service on the 250.
It looks like tempting murphy's law worked, again. After having my heart broken a few times in the kelp with the bass rod, I swore to never throw one in La Jolla again. I lost two big Yellowtails on the bass rod fishing the beach last summer, damn sabiki hook ups
