The weather was great no wind or surf. Easy launch and land.
The islands kelp was pretty much gone. A few areas with kelp up close to the rocks. Lots of cormorants on the rocks and in the water. Had one try steal my bait. It had the damn mackerel in its mouth all the way up to the kayak. I gave up on the island after an hour or so and went over to a couple of kelp stringers. Managed to catch 1 kelp bass and 1 sandbass. Then nothing for another hour. So I packed it in. Gonna try Channel Islands harbor this up coming weekend. |

I'll be fishing in Mammoth next weekend, going up Thursday. Will be the first time using my kayak in fresh water. Good luck and thanks for the report.
