La Jolla Report 9-20-08
I had one Bait on the bottom that came up looking like this. I ate a Jalapeño Cheddar Roast Beef Wrap that looked like this. It was delicious. I got a misc rockfish. And a crafty sandbass that messed with the settings on my camera. Other than that it was dead dead dead. Plenty of perfect size 6 to 8 inch greenies and sardines at the pier. I hit the kelp, the sand, the canyon and the reefs from about 5 til almost 3 for nothing. Saw some cool peeps on the water. I dropped my knife that is in the first pic into the drink. Swell was mixed and choppy and surf was up a bit, so I watched the tourist yaks wipe out for a while and than I home and took a solid 2 hour nap. Nice bite marks on that mack. You can see the mouth pattern, looks pretty good size.

You nailed it with that post.
"The yellowtail have left the building" Good quality Bait was everywhere, but nothing else was happening. Myself and 2 other guys trolled, soaked, and ironed the whole place and found no love. ------------ There was big surf. I got wet going out, and completely swamped by a wave coming in but kept it upright. -There was a huge log jam of kayaks and vehicles at the launch when we returned and it wasn't moving, so after landing I took my buddies (unloaded) scupper pro out in the surf for some entertainment. We took turns doing full kamikaze missions turning the yak completely broadside to the biggest surf then trying to land it without getting killed. It was a riot. -Remarkable, it went well.... lmao I'm convinced kayaks do not flip unless there is a fishing pole aboard. |

Great post! We all know a good sense of humor is required to fish LJ. Better luck next time.
