Anchor Bay in NorCal - Anyone been?

All,

While looking for some hiking spots for an upcoming trip up north, I noticed this awesome looking place called Anchor Bay. Anyone ever been up there and camped/fished?

Also, are there any similar places you guys have experience with closer to us (excluding Baja?) I'd love to plan a weekend camp for sometime early next year....

Campground is small, but nice. Fishing is good, if the swells permit. The surf launch there can get hairy. There are nice camping/fishing spots up and down the coast there. So many to choose from. Ocean Cove, Timber Cove, Gerstle along Sonoma coast, and more in Mendo (Albion, Caspar, Russian Gulch, Ft. Bragg, etc.)

Log into norcalkayakanglers.com. You will find our northern brethren friendly and they probably still have a forum for meet ups. They can give you the lowdown

Yup! Very friendly folks here, and if you post, I'm sure a few of us will get you the info you need, and maybe a hookup to fish.

What these two said. Ncka is like a big welcoming family.

As for anchor bay I've never actually camped there (or h&l for that matter ) but the showers are nice and hot. As mentioned before the beach launch can get pretty interesting. When diving there I never really saw a lot of RF or anything besides perch.

However you are going to be close to other reliable launches and fishing areas like timber cove etc.

Great place to fish. Just make sure to launch at the very end and its easy peasy for most part.

The launch right in front isn't horrible, but it can be sometimes. Good luck!

Could be cold depending on the time of year you are planning. Let me know, this is a trip that the old lady and I would be interested in.

I'm super open next year.

I hear the place gets busy in the summer. Might be worth a little more research on the best times to fish the area then plan around it.
