Bait was hard to make but managed to meter some schools of GB hunkered on the bottom in about 80' Bird and mammal show popping off in the mid-morning out in 130' of water with the dolphins chasing sardines so hard they were knocking the baits through the air. That was pretty cool. |

It was slow for me as well. Found bait near the kelp. Got one good rip, broke the line, pretty sure it was a shark; leader was shredded.
Get them the next time

Struck out yesterday as well - but beautiful sunrise. One fish SD Bay today
Headed out yesterday about 4:45 to a pretty good dawn patrol crowd at la jolla shores. Launch was easy, bait was hard. One greenback in first hour then trolled that plucky little survivor for the next hour...Sea Dog finally claimed him while I was un-rats-nesting my sabiki line and couldn't reel it in fast enough when I heard the seal popping the surface. Decided to try to find more bait at the pier - which was a bit easier.
Off the water with no success but two guys on the beach caught mid-sized YT. Highlight was a beautiful sunrise. Fished the bay off Coronado today and didn't get skunked but have no idea how I hooked the guy I got.
