Are there any spots out of kings harbor?

If you're only looking for rockfish, keep it simple, very simple.

Squid
dropper loop
8-12 ounce sinker
large or high-speed reel (will help on the retrieve)
scan the edges of the canyon, you might have to put in some work but you'll find them
My only other recommendation is to use whole squid

Thanks for the help. Do you know about how far out the canyon is and about how deep i am looking at.

You could swim to the canyon, literally.

As soon as you exit the harbor you'll see a large red buoy, the canyon starts there.
