Cabrillo 8/20

Just got my new (2016 used Outback) but not yet outfitted with FF or LBW so I thought I'd just pack a bunch of plastics and hit the structure and boat slips. Put in near the boat launch at 6:30 and just started working my way out from there almost to the QM. Crossing the channels I trolled an x-rap in a mackerel pattern. Made it back to launch at 12:30 with nada, zilch...el skunko. I had one bone follow my x-rap on a cast & retrieve in the slip area and he peeled off at the yak. Breeze picked up early but all in all a beautiful day and sure beats workin'! Next time she gets her maiden surf launch and head for Point Fermin. Cheers!

The only experience I have with Cabrillo is rounding Angels Gate and heading north to fish the kelp/Fermin so I'm a newbie to the whole marina/harbor side. Would the point be inside the harbor or are you talking about outside like Fermin?
