Wow, I miss that place. The shore fishing for Uluas
is a religion! They use live octopus as bait to attract the uluas (monster jack trevally); then fight the beasts from shore. Many Hawaiian fisherman have died in the rocks and surf trying to land those puppys. I lived and worked at Kihei. And you're right, those charter boats would never let you take your catch home. They sell it to the local hotels/restaurants. Say hi to my friends at the local Greek restaurant, the Pita Paradise. |
