anybody fish LJ 3/3? reports?
according to the local scuba divers' email blast there was a pretty stiff thermocline out there today, at least along the vallecitos point area, and I assume stretching into the kelp beds as well. Wondering whether to tie up a carolina rig or keep fly lining if I make it out there this week. not sure whether to fish above or below the perceived thermocline. winds late last week and over weekend must have caused some degree of coastal upwelling, but not sure how much. Anybody have thoughts or is it too wide open out there to break the seal? |

Its possible to catch a fish any day of the year out in LJ. I wouldn't worry much on the lack of reports, if you are able to fish, why not go?

Gear up when things get quiet regarding fish reports. Good luck.

If the weather co-operated than just go. Forget the reports. The day you don't go, is the day someone you know, or just post on here will have caught what you might have. Can't catch a fish on land.

Agree with all you guys for sure.
Still, would be nice to know what the current's doing, or how the recent vigorous weather affected the conditions. Trying to win the "night before battle" here |

Not wide open, but a steady pick the last couple days. Pretty shallow 50 to 65 feet over submerged kelp. Fly line and a couple fish were caught on surface iron. It should be nice tomorrow before the weather changes on Thursday, go get 'em
