Morro Bay

Is there bass in Morro Bay? I'm going up this weekend Fri-Sun and I'm curious to what's I. The bay. I doubt I'll be getting outside due to 20-25mph winds and 10-12' seas.

Also anyone on here familiar with Santa Margarita Lake? Any and all inquiries appreciated. If there is bass in the bay I can find them. Just trying to weigh my options

Not sure about Morro Bay, because I usually fish further north when I'm traveling along the central coast, but generally speaking as you get far enough north to lose bass you start to gain rockfish and lingcod. There's nothing I enjoy more than fishing for big lings, with big swimbaits, on bass gear from the rocks.

When I went to Morro bay a couple of years back I did not hook into any of them. But, it's not a big deal considering that the harbor is teeming with baby rockfish. If you grab an UL, pack of grubs, and some 1/8-3/8oz jig heads you'll have a ton of fun.

If the sport boats head out I'd suggest giving that a shot too. Those shallow water rockfish along the cencal are so unpressured. I did ask a couple deckhands too on the Fiesta out of Virgs about Calicos around their usual spots, but they've never caught them, sheephead and barracuda have been though.

For bait.

How big is the bay in comparison to San Diego Bay? Is there lings in the bay?

Compared to SD bay it's small! Ya in rocky areas you can get them from shore!
The road to the rock, break wall and off the t pier!
