One of my recent fish had that. Not sure what it is. Froze my fillets for two days, made sushi for four people a few days after. No one got sick. Hopefully no long term consequences.

Hopefully someone here can ID this growth....i have not paid much attention to guts until I saw that 2015 post. I hope it's nothing but now I'm thinking about microscopic parasites.

Most fish have structures at the junction of the stomach and gut call pyloric caecea. That's what's in the photo. Normal healthy fish. Mike
