I don't own a PA14 (Yet

) but I do own a 14' Hobie Oasis tandem. I get it to my roof rack with a Yakima Side loader bar. I can load and unload it myself.

Jeff B - are you local in LJ? Do you trailer down to the shores to launch? How does that work out with parking?

I saw a guy with a big Hobie on a rack on his pick-up today, that thing looked huge. I didn't know what it was until I saw the name Hobie on his cover. Do all Hobie guys cover their yaks when they haul them?

I just throw the one in the back of my truck to LJ. It's nice bc my truck has an 8' bed. With tail gate down it a little over 12'. I'll be taking the trailer to LJ soon. My plan is to take up two parking spots on the backside of the lot, the parallel spots.

I was putting it up on top of my Envoy using carpeted 2x4s as bunks to help slide it up there. Started to get too unwieldy so I bought a used jet ski trailer that I am working on.

My back and Achilles are thanking me

I've posted these many times, but there are always new guys to the fold, so...

I put a set of Hully rollers on my crossbars, and made up a little wooden ramp to protect my paint and help guide the bow up from the rear:

And I carved a wooden block to fit inside my drive well and prevent any movement of the yak:

Pick up the bow and rest it on the rollers first (This shows my older Durango, but the method is the same)

And then just lift the stern and roll the PA14 forward until the drive well drops over the safety block. Tie down and done:
